OVERVIEW

Go for Kogei 2024 presented a multi-site exhibition featuring 37 creators, taking place in two areas: the Iwase Area in Toyama City, as in the previous year, and the Higashiyama Area in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. Both areas preserve historic cityscapes that are defined by a traditional lifestyle closely linked with craft. In addition to the site-specific exhibitions that played off the unique cityscape and scenery, various events were held to explore the significance of craft and art in contemporary lifestyle. New “aesthetics” arising from extending the practical nature of craft were sought through the events, including performance art, a tea gathering to reinterpret tea history, and a hands-on workshop. For this year, the project involved an intensified effort to overcome the dichotomies inherent in traditional crafts—such as art and craft, aesthetics and practicality, and creator and spectator. Noetica, serving as the Project Management Office since 2021, provided comprehensive project management from planning and coordination to operation and public relations.
